Mungia is one of the lucky towns to have the chance to host the Invisible Cinema Festival every year. This the 13th edition and once again there have been a large number of short films and documentaries from around the world that make us aware of the problems that exist in so many countries and the courage of the people who under difficult circumstances do what they can to survive, often with an optimism that can be difficult to understand. This is the case of the women with cancer in Gaza, in the short documentary “Condemned in Gaza”, women who suffer the abuses of the Israeli siege which makes getting proper treatment difficult and at times impossible and in the case of breast cancer often suffering the incomprehension of their partners.
Three evenings of films from here and around the world that make us think about the world we live in. Thanks to Marwa, the Arabian Women`s Association in Mungia and Sen-Mungi, the Association of the Senagalese in Mungia there is also an interesting exposition on Africa in the adjoining room in Torrebillela Kultur Etxea. And on Wednesday evening there will be the prize-giving event followed by a concert by Izaro in the Azkuna Centre, the Alhondiga, in Bilbao. If you are interested in attending you can reserve a place here. Finally, a short reminder that this festival is only possible thanks to the public who attend the films and to people who become members. To find out more about how to become a member you can watch the following video clip here.
