Lindane: a toxic waste among us
Ekologistak Martxan have long had suspicions that hidden lindane is present in many places in our region. A year and a half ago, lindane was found on Mount Jata and a case was opened against the municipality of Mungia for failing to take the necessary safety measures. Apparently yesterday they started to widen the tracks to get to the place where the lindane is. And it seems that there is much more lindane than was originally thought of. But it is very likely that the company that undertakes these studies is committing various irregularities. Therefore, on behalf of Ekologistak Martxan, we have asked Mungia Town Council for information on this matter, and in particular on the works permit. The fact is that if the necessary measures are not taken, the lives of the workers will be put at risk, and not only of the workers, but also of the people in the area. Mungia Town Council is legally obliged to take the necessary measures to prevent people from entering this contaminated area!
