Lemoiz gelditu!

Lemoiz gelditu!

It is still possible to see the mural Lemoiz gelditu. Many of our group have already seen the mural and the accompanying exhibition. In addition, thanks to one of our members, some have had the opportunity to see the exhibition accompanied by the  museum`s Head of Archives, Mikel Urizar. Here you can find some information about the exhibition: Lemoiz Stop. In addition, Izkandar Rementeria, the curator of this exhibition, explains the history of the mural very well in this video conference. But if you want to see the exhibition don’t worry as the time period has been extended till the end of May! And let`s hope that the exposition can be displayed in other museums in the Basque Country.

Lemoiz nuclear power plant was fortunately never put into operation but the monster is still there in what was Basordas bay, and every now and again a new project is proposed for that place, the latest being a fish-farm project. But among the projects it is never proposed to completely dismantle the plant and restore as much as possible its stolen beauty. However, the Lemoiz Etzandarri hill-walking group proposes designating the Lemoiz cliffs as a protected natural area. Now that’s a nice project! In the meantime why don’t we try to reclaim the historical memory and put up a panel in Lemoiz to remind people of the insanity of what Lemoiz was. And why not Lemoiz as a final resting-place for the Lemoiz gelditu mural?
