For a sustainable management of our green spaces
A few years ago we brought out a Biodiversity Poster and soon after that we started proposing to the local municipalities that they start doing butterfly oasis. It was a good initiative, and the various oasis that we made were really nice. In addition, other groups and people have been inspired to make their own oasis. However, it remains to be seen whether they will be continued by some of these municipalities. It would really be unfortunate to see the work done so far abandoned, especially when such projects are so well considered at European level and fit in perfectly with the EU Pollinator Initiative.
In fact, we believe that municipalities and other institutions need to go further and change the management of green spaces and roadsides to take into account pollinators. Is it really necessary to cut the grass so many times? In addition to being beautiful in the city, they are very valuable to pollinators and also help to reduce urban pollution. And also if we don’t cut as much as the grass, it works out cheaper. It really is time to take a different approach, and we’re ready to help with that!
