Earth day in Gatika

EARTH DAY IN GATIKA

The Biosphere group of BBT celebrated the third edition of Earth Day, this time in Gatika, last Sunday 15th April with a morning full of activities related with environmental education. These activities took place on land which will be used for  an oasis of butterflies.

The large number of people who attended the event were divided up into different groups. David and a group of parents started cutting the Pampa grass (Cortaderia selloana) while Ana and Mabel with a group of parents and children started collecting litter. After a while the kids had a rest and Belen read them a story on the metamorphosis of the butterfly and then proceeded to help the children make a butterfly brooch with beads and draw caterpillars. Then, together, we all helped to make nest boxes for spider wasps and solitary bees as well as a 5-star bug hotel. To round the day off we had a picnic in which we shared out the food that each family brought with them.

All in all, it was a great day out… Many thanks for sharing Earth Day with us once again!
