Coffee Compost Initiative
We often say that the 5th container in Mungia is barely used. Only between 1% and 2%, of Mungia`s waste goes there although it should account for at least 35% of it. In December we made several proposals to the council in a motion but they were not approved. However, the municipal government said that it was willing to meet us again to discuss our ideas. We believe that a regional composting plant will bring benefits to the entire region, and we want to show that much more can be done to encourage people to separate organic matter. Therefore, on 23, 24 and 25 April we plan to collect as much coffee waste as possible from the bars in Mungia as despite it being very good for composting, unfortunately it is often thrown away with the general waste. So these days we’ve been going from bar to bar explaining our initiative and handing out a short questionnaire on it. Small actions, big dreams !!!
