CLEANING THE RIVER

On 18th february in Mungia around 16 of us, 6 of whom were kids from the Haitzuri Hondar Eskola Libre (Whiterocks Sand Free School) met up to clean the river Butroi. And again we collected a lot of rubbish, but especially plastic and aluminium cans. In all, we gathered 10 kilos of glass and 40 kilos of plastic. Not bad! Another thing that we noticed was the large amount of rubbish piled up behind the benches. It might be a good idea to put some bins there but even so, that won`t solve the problem.

It must be remembered that the is an initiative of SEO-Ecoembes and the project itself is called Libera. The main objective of the project is to gather as much rubbish as possible.

It`s so nice to see so many kiddies taking part in the cleaning! We all had a good time and we will be back in the same place next month. Let`s see if we can finish cleaning this little part of the river.
