Balasport will close its doors
The Scottish cooperative that markets Fair Trade balls, will soon close its doors! For the past 7 years, it has done a great job improving working conditions in the factories where balls are made and sparking enthusiasm. We too have shared this illusion by becoming members of Balasport. But unfortunately it has been impossible to survive in this competitive world of sports, and in view of a lack of a firm commitment to ethical purchasing by the institutions. A little has been done, but not enough, and we’ve noted something similar here. However, they still have a lot of balls for sale and we will help to sell them, and we can only hope that someone else will take over and start selling Fair Trade sports balls once more.
