SACIN Bird Monitoring and Walk
SACIN is one of SEO`s programmes to monitor urban bird populations and it’s also a great excuse to go for a walk, though with this weather and the bars and restaurants closed who needs an excuse to go for a walk.
Thanks to Aitor, David, Iñigo, Josean and Xabier we had enough volunteers to divide the 25 of us into three groups and after a brief introduction we all set out at intervals of five minutes. There were not very many birds around and the highlights of the morning were good views of a kestrel, a kingfisher, a tree climber and a meadow pipit.
It was nice to see so many young children and I think for them the ducks are always the highlight. But I think everyone learnt something and we all certainly had a lovely walk. A special thanks to Aitor, David, Iñigo, Josean and Xabier for showing us so many of Mungia`s birds.
