EARTH DAY EN MUNGIA 2016
Sunday was the perfect day to share with friends and family activities that give us that feel good sensation. More than 40 people of all ages gathered on 24th April in Torrebillela Park to celebrate Earth Day.
For that day the association Butroi Bizirik in Transition (BBT) organized a series of fun activities around environmental education with the object of generating a critical attitude faced with situations that affect the earth, and with special emphasis on fluvial ecosystems.
People who took part in this event had the opportunity to identify and get to know the local flowers and fauna, be informed about the risk of invasive species and the consequences.
We gathered rubbish all along the River Butroi and carried out an analysis of the water. We were all intrigued to know the results of our analysis and in the end the results of the analysis were acceptable!.We also made bird-boxes and in another workshop we were shown how anything (and when we say anything, we mean shoes and plastic bottles) can be used as a flower-pot in a vertical garden. As you can see, the results were both colourful and attractive. Finally, we painted a mural showing the type of landscape we dream of and our working to preserve, one which is full of colour, reflecting life in all its forms and free of pollution. We also took photos of ourselves holding the theme of the day “ I want a living river.”
We would like to thank all our friends and companions in BBT who took part in the organization of the event as well as the families that took part and got involved in the various activities. We must also thank Mother-Earth, who, after a little wind and rain, blessed us with the warmth of her sun.
Many thanks!!
