Biosfera, Butroi Bizirik Trantsizio’ s environmental group, has always been worried about the loss of biodiversity and that`s one of the reasons why we support initiatives concerned with with ecological diversity and how to protect it.
Today we would like to share with you a new initiative: In spring the cuckoo, like many other birds, comes from Africa. It`s song is an easy one to recognize but it`s usually quite difficult to see. Unfortunately it`s song is heard less and less and it`s for this reason that we would like people to send a an email to kukubbt@gmail.com to let us know where they have seen or heard the cuckoo in Bizkaia.
There are two objectives behind this initiative. The first is to know the population of the cuckoo in Bizkaia and the second is to encourage people to take an interest in their surroundings. Although citizens`science cannot replace the work of biologists, it can be of a great help.
So, if you should hear “Cuckoo!” send us a message and let other people know about this initiative. The more people who take part, the more reliable the results will be.
