The Invisible Cinema Festival
Butroi Bizirik Trantzisioan was very visible this weekend in Mungia in the Invisible Cinema festival on two accounts. Firstly, there was the showing of our member and collaborator Alberto Fernandez`s film “Aroak” in which we can see our friend and producer Mari Cruz Bravo taking her vegetables to our centre. Then, our friend Marga Toja who is member of the newly formed “Mungia: A Fairtrade Town” initiative, helped to ensure that at the last minute a short promotional film on Fairtrade footballs was shown. Members of BBT translated it and the director of the Invisible Film Festival ensured that it was shown, even though it wasn`t officially on the programme.
Afterwards, our member David, had an opportunity to explain how the small cooperative Balasport that commercializes these balls does big things to help people. For example, last year Balasport helped a charity organization by delivering 500 balls to refugee camps in Syria. It has also been helping the International Homeless World Cup for the last two years and finally it collaborates with the United Glasgow anti-homophobic and pro-refugee football club. three good reasons for supporting this small, cooperative, almost invisible among the Nikes and Adidas of this world. And finally, don`t forget, by buying Fairtrade products, we are helping people in developing countries to have an economically viable future. So the next time, you`re thinking of getting a ball as a present make sure it`s one with real added value!
If you missed “Aroak” and the short Fairtrade football video they can be seen again in Bilbo on Wednesday evening on the last day of the festival.
